Celebrating Birthday With Amari Watergate Bangkok & Amaya Food Gallery

Almost 80% of Singaporean love to travel to Bangkok for short getaway as they are just 2hours flight, and lately with the automated immigration clearance for Singaporean I believe more people are travelling there.

Travelling to Bangkok usually only for that particular few reason, to shop like free, massage like a king/queen or take a break because their hotel is really affordable and luxury.

During our visit, we picked Amari Watergate being our second hotel because they are located directly opposite of Platinum Mall which mean we are just minutes away from shopping heaven!

Amari Watergate features 569 rooms, including deluxe, grand deluxe and suites, they also have dedicated executive floors offering exclusive executive lounge with private reception and breath taking city views, you will be spoil with such beautiful view and top quality services by their staff.

As it is our second hotel for our October trip, we decided to book Executive Club Room to get private services and more quiet stay.

With the booking of Executive Club Room, we gain access to executive lounge for checking in, complimentary daily breakfast buffet & evening cocktails daily. Other than usual indoor executive lounge, Amari Watergate also have an outdoor area at Executive lounge for you to enjoy the city night views and cocktail.

Morning View From Executive Lounge Outdoor Area, you could spot Platinum Mall, Novotel and other shopping malls.

And the Night City View, it really feel good when you enjoy the breeze and cocktail over at that area. It's my kind of perfect holiday yeah!

We are pretty lucky to have our rooms at the same level as the executive lounge, which mean we are just few steps away from all the daily breakfast, cocktail and beautiful view.

After Checking In, it will be the best time to explore our room!

Executive Club Room located at level 32, 40sqm with 40-inch LCD TV, DVD player, free WiFi, Shower, Separate bathtub and even a working desk/area to do some work.

And a secret space is that you can open up the window from bathtub area to peep on the tv, isn't perfect to have bubble wash and catch tv together.

Other than having luxury executive room and lounge, Amari Watergate actually do have quite a huge range of facilities available for all guest. Facilities such as Gym, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Steam Bath, Spa, Squash Court and even group classes/personal trainer.

This is probably the first hotel I came by in Bangkok which have squash court and even so much more facilities.

Next Up:

Daily Breakfast At Executive Lounge, available 6am to 10.30am daily. Experience the unfolding backdrop of sunrise over Bangkok’s stunning skyline with luxury daily breakfast.

Executive Lounge breakfast offer Bread, Chinese Dimsum, Western Breakfast(Ham, Cheese, Pancake, Bacon...) , Cereal Bar, Fruits & Fresh Cold Pressed Juices, Coffee or Tea. Even though there is limited buffet line for breakfast but I believe all these are good enough for you to pick the general breakfast set.

This pretty sum up our daily breakfast at Executive Lounge,

And I would say, their staff is really attentive, helpful and they can even remember your name and great you warmly every single time you pass by them.

Other than Executive Lounge Food, Amari Watergate also have Cascade, Pool Bar, Amaya Food Gallery for you to enjoy food and drinks. On my actual birthday, Fatty decided to get down to try out their weekend Mediterranean buffet at Amaya Food Gallery.

It cost about 1200 Thai Baht which is about SGD$50 and to our surprise the taste of the food is amazing and we feel that this is definitely super value for dollar. We have yet to try any Mediterranean buffet in Singapore that is better than theirs and best of all it is only $50 Singapore Dollar, so affordable yeah!

Amaya Food Gallery designed as a contemporary and flexible space with the capacity of up to 480 persons, other than that they also offer a wine cellar and private dining room which is perfect for informal celebration or business dinner.

The food at Amaya Food Gallery takes its inspiration from the street food of Asia, complemented by a separate Italian section. They offer food specialities from Thailand, Southeast Asia, India and Italy and they are well organise in the buffet line.

Market Grill Zone, where you can order your own grill from chef, available food are Chicken/Beef/Fish Skewer. We tried all three different type of Skewer and I would say both of Chicken & Fish Skewer.

Fish Skewer especially Salmon Fish is well marinated and fresh, the heat is well controlled and leaving the Salmon to have natural sweetness and not too overcook, I am impressed with this.

Chicken Skewer, it seems like they used a mixture of different chicken parts for the skewer, skewer that have chicken breast is slightly dry however the other parts of the chicken actually taste really good and juicy. Sweetness of green/yellow/red pepper went into the meat and making it sweet and tasty.

As for beef, it is a little overcook and turning it to be too hard to be cut and chew.

Fatty suggest that it might be better if they can add pineapple in the beef skewer to create more sweetness into the beef. Definitely have room for improvement, the rest are perfectly fine!

Seafood Paella, one of the world challenging dish.

The Paella turns out to be pretty good, the only down side is that you couldn't really taste much saffron from the Paella, this resulting the seafood taste to overwhelm the dish. Fatty's suggest that it might be better if Chef can be a little more generous in adding more saffron but nevertheless it is still a great tasting dish.

Pasta Zone, you are allowed to customised your own pasta, such as the sauce (Bolognese, Carbonara, Tomato & Cream), choice of pasta will be Penne, Spaghetti or Linguine.

I picked Carbonara Penne and I would say it is so yummy, I didn't expect it to be so addictive, the only disappointed is the portion is a little too small but they give you generous amount of bacon! I would love to go for second plate.

After Main Dishes, We shall go for dessert!

Amaya Food Gallery offer pretty interesting range of Dessert, with Thai Style Ice Kachang, Churros, Tiny Cakes/Tarts, Cookies, Chocolate Fondue and so, however we didn't try all of it as we are too full over the main dishes they offer.

Dessert is not too bad, the cafe style/typical dessert. I would love to save my tummy for their main course instead because the main are too good to miss!

And yes, I celebrated my 23rd birthday on that day also a big thank you for the surprise from Amari Watergate Team. So blessed and I really have a great time in Bangkok.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes, love you guys so much!

I will definitely be back to Amari Watergate again, Thank you.
