Fifteen Nine Cafe & Bar – Jalan Riang
I believe you have heard of Wimbly Lu Cafe which is located around Serangoon estate and yes I found this newly open cafe/bar @Fifteen Nine Cafe & Bar
Fifteen Nine, a cafe/bar with a casual and chill ambience for hang out in and indulge with your friends and family, serving a mix of local and western food with a twist at pocket friendly pricing.
Located at neighborhood of Jalan Riang, 15-9 Jalan Riang Road is exactly the address of the cafe and I guess that explains they name themselves the "Fifteen Nine Car & Bar"
Fairy Lights and cement walls with chalkboard design writing makes the entire place feel so wild and lively.
Cheesy Fries With Bacon Bits, SGD $10
The usual french fries combining with Cheddar Cheese Sauce & Mayonnaise topping up with bacon bits to create this salty and cheesy flavour. Rate: 4/5
It is a well picked cheese sauce and making this plate of cheesy fries a pretty good one, however the downside is the bacon bits is a little too big in pieces and too little. We believe it could be better if the bacon bits can be cut smaller and evenly sprinkle across the plate of fries.
Indo-Mee Burger, SGD $16
Chicken Thigh fillet coated and fried with Indo-Mee and served with five-spiced fries and salad. Rate: 3/5
I would give a thumbsup for creativity for this dish, this is probably my first experience with Indo-Mee Burger & Five-Spiced Fries. We would rate the dish at 3 points out of 5, it is actually well marinated however the lost point is due to the dryness of the chicken patty. Chicken Thigh are usually juicy and tender however this dish seems to either over fry it and losing the moisture of the meat which we are a little upset with. Five spiced fries is also pretty interesting, the first few mouth it taste like Cinnamon but after like the fourth of fifth mouth I think the cheesy fries will be so much better but well it is a good attempt.
Brunch Waffle, SGD $13
Belgian waffles topping up with scramble eggs, bacon and hash browns making the perfect colour brunch waffle.
Rate: 3/5
Usually I thought breakfast will never go wrong because they are always the simplest food but the most tedious food ever. I love brunch waffle because of the colour combination, it makes the food look so much brighter however for taste wise I am a little disappointed in certain areas. The texture of the waffles and the food are pretty good, the only issue with this is that the entire breakfast food does not compliment each other which I feel they are individual dish and separated. Maybe they can consider to work out a sauce that can help to harmonised the entire dish to make it better. *The first sauce that came into my mind was Maple syrup, I thought it will be good to have it to create sweet and saltiness in one mouth.
As we are pretty full from the main course brunch we decided to order one dessert for sharing and this turns out to be Fatty's favourite.
Rate: 4/5 Belgian Waffle With Single Scoop Chocolate Ice-cream ,SGD $10 Fatty think that their dessert is excellent however it is not good enough comparing to Ice-Cube Ice-cream Waffle. Waffle sweetness is well controlled, the sweetness of maple syrup and chocolate syrup was just right for every individual mouth of dessert. The only disappointment is there is only two choice of ice-cream, I believe it will be perfect if there is more choices. *Yumyum*
Generally, I would come back for coffee and chill with my friends as the atmosphere is pretty quiet and I love such feeling during the weekends. Apart from the mention dish they also have real unique and local dish with a twist such as Cheesy Spiced Escargots, Paprika Pop, Riang Cheeseburger, Mac & Cheese Escargot, isn't all these sounds so special? A good reason for me to visit again..
