The Traditional Singapore Food - Yu Kee Duck Rice
I am a big fan of Chinese food, I love steamboat, Ban Mian(Handmade Noodle), Chicken Rice, Duck Noodle, Fish soup, Char Kuay Tiao, Carrot Cake, Dim Sum and many many more...
Not forgetting one brand/store that I grow up seeing, Yu Kee Duck Rice.
Since young I always see their store around my neighbourhood Coffee shop (Koufu), my Mum will always grab their duck rice for us as lunch/dinner and eventually I grow up believing duck rice must comes with thick sauce and brown rice.
Yu Kee Duck Rice have a total of 28 outlets spreading around Singapore. Don't worry about travelling to get them, they could just be a few blocks away from you. *Check out the below address if you are keen to try them*
As we grow older we will eventually go further to try other food and neglected the simplest food around our estate. Till last year I came by an opportunity to try them again and this brings back so much memories about my primary school life.
After much consideration we decided to order 3 of their popular dish and give it a try, Yu Kee Classic Duck Rice, Duck Noodle and Kuay Chup Set, the entire meal cost less than $20 and could minimum feed 3 pax.
Lets check out individual item and their taste test,
Specialty Duck Rice, the entire set includes egg, dried bean curds, peanuts and soup.
I love how the rice blend so well with their secret traditional stew sauce adding on with tender duck meat. Yu Kee Chili is also one of a kind that would bring their food to another level. The best and my favourite experience with them is their herbal soup that comes along with duck rice set. I love their herbal soup so much till I finished the entire bowl, super yummy.
Next up, Kway Chap Set was great too, the specialty herbal soup that they have brings the kway chap to another level. The “liao” of the kway chap was being enhanced because of their secret traditional stew sauce. I love it too! Highly recommended!
As for their Duck You Mian Noodle, I think it is acceptable however a little normal, believe they can be better. All of you still can give it a try as it might suit your liking, but personal opinion I prefer their Duck Rice & Kway Chup!
Overall experience with Yu Kee, they are still as good as before, highly recommended their Signature Duck Rice & Kway Chup! Other than improving their food and quality, Yu Kee also build their brand well, receiving lots of awards in Singapore and also starting their own online ordering page!
Check them out and grab a plate of the yummy Duck Rice today! <3
